The head of Serbian diplomacy, Marko Đurić, met today in Belgrade with the Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of Italy.
Stefania Craxi, and on that occasion expressed gratitude to Italy for its contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the region through the engagement of the Italian army as part of KFOR.
Particularly for the protection it provides to the Visoki Dečani Monastery and the preservation of other Serbian religious and cultural heritage sites in Kosovo.
As stated in the announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Đurić emphasized that cooperation with Italy significantly contributes to Serbia’s economic development and its rapprochement with the European Union.
Reminding that Serbia and Italy are marking an important anniversary this year – 145 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations – Minister Đurić highlighted that the two countries maintain close and friendly ties and continuously improve their bilateral cooperation.
Đurić noted that the cooperation between the two parliaments is not only about connecting two institutions but also about linking the political systems and political classes of the two countries, further ensuring that future generations will foster even closer relations between our nations.
According to him, the Serbian government has adopted a reform agenda under which Serbia will implement all necessary reforms by 2027 and be ready for European Union membership.
Regarding Serbia’s foreign policy, the Serbian diplomat stated that Serbia aims to build and strengthen relations with as many countries as possible and seeks friendships around the world.
Emphasizing that this year also marks 15 years since the establishment of a strategic partnership between Serbia and Italy, Đurić expressed satisfaction that a joint session of the governments of the two countries will be held in the upcoming period, according to the statement.
