President Aleksandar Vucic has strongly condemned the recent university and school blockades, stating that the consequences are far-reaching and deeply harmful to both the country and its students.
According to Vucic, the academic institutions have been severely disrupted, with the quality of education declining sharply. He said that the blockades have “crippled universities, dragged down the education system, and brought hardship into the lives of young people.” He added that the nation is now facing serious economic repercussions as a result of these prolonged interruptions.
Referring to an incident in Pionirski Park, Vucic pointed out that students who simply wanted to attend their lectures were attacked by individuals he labeled as “hooligans.” He praised the courage of the students who chose to continue their education instead of participating in political demonstrations.
The president also warned that lawsuits may be filed against educational staff and institutions over missed exams and disrupted classes. Such legal action, he said, could overwhelm families and drive the education system into crisis.
He closed his statement by urging for calm and a swift return to regular academic activities, insisting that the longer the institutions remain blocked, the more serious the consequences will be for both students and the future of the country.
