Italy is currently one of the countries, alongside Hungary, that strongly supports and advocates for Serbia’s European integration, stated the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabic, in Rome.

“It is high time to open Cluster 3. Italy believes that Serbia belongs in the EU before 2030. I don’t think that is realistic because I believe there are many member states that remain skeptical, but it’s important for the citizens of Serbia to know that this is Italy’s stance,” Brnabic added.

Brnabic is currently delivering a speech.
“I invited Mr. Fontana to come and sign a comprehensive agreement on parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Italy, and then explore ways we can enhance our presence in the European Parliament, even though we are not yet a member.”

Brnabic also highlighted the successful meetings with the Luiss University.
“Some of the best Italian universities, such as Luiss and Bocconi, will sign cooperation agreements with us, and by 2025, we aim to achieve what we have outlined in the Serbia 2027: Leap into the Future plan. We plan to open branches and campuses of foreign universities, positioning Serbia as the educational hub of the Balkans and attracting a large number of students from Belgrade and other cities,” Brnabic emphasized, expressing hope that such agreements will be signed next year.

Responding to a question from journalists, Brnabic pointed out that Italian companies in Serbia currently employ 24,000 people and that she expects further investments, as the level of satisfaction among Italian entrepreneurs with business conditions in Serbia is exceptionally high.
