Elon Musk reportedly wants to populate the Earth with a “legion” of highly intelligent children in a bid to avert the collapse of human civilization, which he believes could be caused by a global decline in birth rates, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Tuesday, citing unnamed sources.
The investigation, which centered on what it described as a “harem drama” involving Musk, also highlighted his relationships with multiple women. The billionaire, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency and is a close ally of former US President Donald Trump, is said to have fathered at least 14 children with four different women, although the actual number could be higher. These relationships, the report claims, have been marked by alleged hush-money payments and contentious disputes over parenting.
Musk’s drive to have more children is reportedly motivated by his “dark view” of humanity’s future, where he fears a species-wide collapse due to demographic challenges. Sources familiar with his thinking suggest that Musk feels a sense of urgency to correct the course by fathering children who are of higher intelligence. One source claimed that Musk is determined to “seed the earth with more human beings of high intelligence.”
One of the women Musk is allegedly involved with, Ashley St. Clair, who claims to be the mother of one of his children, showed the Wall Street Journal a message purportedly sent by Musk. In the message, Musk referred to his children as a “legion,” drawing a parallel to ancient Roman military units that expanded the empire. He also reportedly expressed a desire to father even more children, saying, “To reach legion-level before the apocalypse, we will need to use surrogates.”
Musk has apparently used his platform, X (formerly Twitter), to recruit potential mothers, including some who have never met him in person but are prominent in social circles.
In 2021, Musk voiced concerns about low birth rates, stating that it posed “one of the biggest risks to civilization.” He warned that without more children, “civilization is going to crumble.”
Musk’s personal life has faced backlash, particularly from his daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, who distanced herself from him after coming out as transgender. Musk has criticized her decision publicly. Additionally, he is engaged in a custody battle with pop star Grimes, the mother of two of his children, who has accused him of withholding one of their children from visiting family for several months.
