Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is hopeful after his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating that the results of their conversations will be useful for Serbia and its citizens.
Vucic noted that Erdogan’s forthcoming trip will serve to strengthen the already existing cordial relations between the two countries, as they have been maintained through frequent contact and mutual cooperation.
“Let me express my great gratitude to the president of Turkey for the fact that he came to our country yet again and for being so straightforward about every issue, whether bilateral or global,” Vucic pointed out.
He noted that during the meetings, there were also issues raised about, economic engagement, cultural exchange and the bilateral relations between the two countries within the present day global order.
Vucic put emphasis on economic relations in particular and pointed out that the trade between Serbia and Turkey has increased tremendously in recent years. “Erdogan‟s ambition is to boost the trade turnover between our countries up to five billion U.S. dollars. We have already made great strides in this direction, however, it is still a challenging task,” Vucic said.
Cooperation in such priority areas as infrastructure, energy, technology, and innovation was also emphasized by the two presidents. Vucic lauded the Turkish investments in Serbia which facilitated the growth of a number of municipalities, leading to job creation and better standards of living in the regions.
As Vucic noted, “The discussions we had today reaffirm our common determination to improve bilateral relations, which is in the interest of both countries and promotes the order and development of the entire region.”
He pointed out that both of them share a common will to enhance relations, deter wars and conflicts in the given area, as they are sure that every additional collaboration brings the two nations closer to their objectives.
Lastly, he thanked Erdogan for appreciating Serbia on the global scale and Turkey’s help in that regard. “We are still working on this collaboration, which has already produced remarkable outcomes. Instead, I would say.
The lass than the two nations discussed what would be the next projects and I hope that these will further close Serbia and Turkey,” said Vucic, turning attention to the prospects of cooperation that could stem from the negotiations held.
