Serbian Assembly President Ana Brnabic has spoken out following the attack on analyst Veljko Jovanović.
Writing on her X social media profile, Brnabic wrote that the attack on Jovanović is a result of the continuous calls from the opposition and their ideologues for physical confrontations with political dissenters.
“It is important to call things by their proper names today. The fact is that the opposition representatives have never clearly condemned, nor distanced themselves from acts of violence and calls for violence.”
“On the contrary, they have incited violence and threatened with violence. Now they will not condemn the attack on Veljko, just as no one from the civil sector, academic community, or so-called ‘elite’ will. Their silence clearly indicates that, in their value system, violence is a justified and legitimate way of political struggle.”
Therefore, we declare that violence will never prevail in Serbia. We will always fight for peace and stability in society. Serbia will remain stable and will continue on its path to prosperity. I wish Veljko a swift and successful recovery,” stated Ana Brnabic.
