The President of the Serbian National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, met today with Norway’s representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Ellen Svendsen. During the meeting, Brnabic stressed that Serbia greatly values the OSCE’s work, its independent bodies, its missions, and the support they provide.

According to the Serbian National Assembly, Brnabic focused on the partnership with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the help it offers in improving the election system, laws, and the overall election process, she said she is committed to making sure the working group on these issues is efficient and doesn’t waste time.

Svendsen praised Brnabic’s efforts to improve election conditions in Serbia, she also said that involving members of civil society and non-governmental organizations in leadership roles within the working group sends a strong and positive message, not just in Serbia but around the world.

Brnabic thanked the OSCE Mission in Serbia and Ambassador Jan Braathu, who was also at the meeting, for their support on many important issues that matter to the public, she appreciated the help the organization provides to Serbian institutions.

Brnabic also mentioned ongoing projects between the OSCE and the Serbian parliament, these include a review of how gender issues are addressed in the National Assembly and the creation of a Green Resource Center. This center will provide lawmakers with reliable and useful information from experts on environmental protection, according to the announcement.
