The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, addressed the public via social media platform “X”:

“A reminder of what President Aleksandar Vucic said months ago. Back in December, he warned that the student protests and blockades were just a cover, and that politics was the real motive behind it all.

Now, five months later, everyone in Serbia can clearly see he was right. As these groups prepare their own electoral list and plan to demand new elections, it’s obvious that their only real goal was gaining political power.

This is an unacceptable political intrusion into our educational institutions, and a shameful manipulation of students, as well as high school and elementary school pupils. The ‘Initiative 60’ represents a clear misuse of universities for political purposes.

What is most disturbing from a human perspective — and this is now the second time we’ve seen it in less than two years — is the exploitation of national tragedies for political gain. Aleksandar Vucic saw through their intentions and wasn’t afraid to speak the truth to the people. That’s exactly why they can’t stand him,” wrote Brnabic.
