Authorities in Kragujevac responded Monday evening around 8 PM to reports of a strong marijuana odor coming from a commercial property on Slobodana Perovića Street, local media reported.
Police arrived to find two individuals locking up the premises. One was identified as Filip Misita, a 1988-born professor at the University of Kragujevac’s Faculty of Arts (FILUM). The other man was named as Miloš Prelas, also born in 1988. After leaving the scene, the pair were not detained at that time, but officers decided to investigate due to the suspicious smell.
With permission reportedly granted by Misita, law enforcement conducted a search of the premises. Inside, they allegedly found a partially burned, hand-rolled cigarette containing what appeared to be cannabis, as well as an additional amount of plant material resembling marijuana. Authorities are still determining the quantity and composition.
Misita allegedly acknowledged ownership of the substances.
Media outlets noted that Misita is associated with the “Free University” initiative and has been involved in protests at the university’s rectorate. He is also reportedly organizing a demonstration scheduled for tomorrow in front of the Rectorate building in Kragujevac and is known for his environmental activism.
