Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic responded today to a statement made by SSP leader Dragan Djilas, who declared that the opposition will “defeat Vucic without outside help,” by saying that “those who are the worst in this country cannot win in Serbia.”
“They won’t defeat me; I told you that 10 years ago. I’ll leave on my own, and I hope that those who are the worst in this country will not succeed, nor will those I intend to support and help in the upcoming elections. Let’s live and see,” Vucic stated after inspecting the final construction works at Subotica Railway Station.
The President highlited that he has consistently been proven right so far.
“It’s at least 10:0 in my favor on that matter, and we’ll see if it becomes 10:1 or 11:0. Trust the winner’s word,” Vucic said, adding that he’s “been hearing this for 12 years.”
In an interview with a Belgrade weekly, Djilas claimed that “Vucic would have already lost power if it weren’t for Western support.”
“But we will defeat Vucic without help from anyone outside. It’s harder that way, but it will happen. And that will be our great advantage because we won’t owe anything to anyone, nor will we have to make promises to anyone, giving us the chance to truly lead this country in a different way,” Djilas stated, adding that the current government “currently has around 47% of the votes and voter support.”
