During a session of the Serbian National Assembly, Speaker Ana Brnabic directed a sharp question at opposition MPs, referencing statements made by Professor Marija Vasic. Brnabic challenged them to clarify who allegedly orchestrated a military coup outside the University of Belgrade, as Vasic had suggested.
“You’ve repeatedly claimed to fully trust Marija Vasic,” Brnabic said. “If that’s the case, then explain to everyone here—who was involved in plotting a military takeover in front of the university? That’s what she publicly claimed.”
Brnabic argued that if such a serious accusation is to be taken at face value, the public deserves to know exactly which individuals were in communication with members of the military union and who was involved in alleged preparations for action on March 15.
She pressed the matter further: “If you believe her word without question, then you must also believe that there were elements within the university planning a military coup. So who were they?”
Vasic had previously mentioned alleged coordination between the university and a military union in preparation for some kind of joint action. However, opposition representatives have not provided any confirmation or clarification regarding her statements.
