After an evening marked by basketball and heavy drinking, a 29-year-old mother of four has been arrested, suspected of fatally stabbing her 52-year-old neighbor and seriously injuring another man in a violent confrontation near Aleksandrovac.

The incident occurred late two nights ago in Gornja Zleginja, at a home provided to the family by the Center for Social Welfare. Reports indicate that a dispute broke out between the woman’s husband and two neighbors, quickly escalating into a brawl. The woman allegedly intervened, stabbing one of the men multiple times in the back and kicking him in the head. She reportedly used a baseball bat as well. The second man was also injured and is now receiving treatment at the hospital in Krusevac.

Villagers near Aleksandrovac shared that this family has been known to cause issues in the past. Four years ago, they were assigned a house previously inhabited by teachers, located near the local school.

“I saw police lights, patrol cars, and an ambulance last night. I was so worried, but fear kept me from going out to see what was happening,” a visibly shaken neighbor said.

She added, “The police stayed all night, and this morning I heard from others what had happened. It breaks my heart for the neighbor. He lived just two houses down from the troubled family and even helped them financially.”

Dispute Followed Basketball Game and Drinking

According to local residents, the argument started after a group dinner and a basketball game between Partizan and Dubai.

“They occasionally spent time together, and last night they watched the game over dinner and drinks. They were drinking, probably too much, and things got heated. Word is that the neighbor made advances toward the woman, prompting her husband to step in, while the other man tried to calm things down,” a source explained.

“Then, the woman joined in, grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing her neighbor. He didn’t even realize what hit him; he was clutching his stomach and back, bleeding on the ground,” they continued.

The witness described how the woman then took a wooden club and continued striking the man as he lay there.

“She kept hitting him with that club while he was down. The second man tried to intervene, but she turned on him too,” villagers recounted. “She went too far, no matter what happened. Even if he acted inappropriately, she should have called the police instead of taking matters into her own hands.”

When paramedics arrived, they could only confirm the death of the man, while the other was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The deceased man reportedly lived alone after separating from his wife, though his child would visit occasionally. He also has relatives in Slovenia, while his injured friend lives with his family in a nearby village.

The suspect, now in custody, is reportedly related to a man involved in a recent violent incident, where a man fatally beat his partner in Donja Rataja, another village near Aleksandrovac, just ten days ago.
