Dalibor Jevtic president of the municipality Strpce and a member of the Serbian List, believes that Pristina continues to foment hatred and violence against Serbs in the province, especially against those residing in Strpce, Gracanica and the northern regions of Kosovo.
As Jevtic conveys these circumstances are a result of Albin Kurti’s policies and warned against further measures that would be taken against the Serbs as the Kosovo elections date which is February 9 get closer.
Jevtic clarified that Pristina aims to capture Serbian lands, especially in relation to leasing activities at the Brezovica ski resort which Jevtic pointed out does not provide the municipality any authority over the ski resort.
He emphasized that these are designed not only to threaten the economic viability of Serb-dominated municipalities but also to change the ethnic balance of the region in favor of Albanians whom he alleged are not native to the particular regions being settled.
“Unfortunately, as the elections draw near, the actions of Representatives of Pristina escalate. The radicalization of the politics of Albin Kurti is meant for complete destabilization and rendering Serbs to live in fear,” stated Jevtic.
He further stressed how serious the case is, with the Serbs being pressured all the time, which he connects to a plan on the part of Albin Kurti. He also mentioned the previous pressure applied to the municipality of Strpce, particularly the Social Work Center in Leposavić which has recently been closed, also indicating how difficult the situation already is.
When it comes to the question of international support, Jevtic voiced his disappointment over the international community’s weak response which, as he put it, is nothing more than silly talk without any real action being taken. He called for a more vigorous stance and support from Belgrade and the intervention of other actors in order to protect the Serbs in Kosovo.
“The Serbs in Kosovo rely on the support of Belgrade and intend to remain in our homes no matter the conditions we are subjected to. Right now, trust in the world is being put to the test and we await the elections and these changes in the political arena to work to our advantage in ensuring proper protection of our rights,” Jevtic concluded.
