Serbia’s Finance Minister, Sinisa Mali, has issued a scathing response to opposition figure Dragan Djilas, following Djilas’ criticism of the country’s prime minister.

Mali accused Djilas of hypocrisy, claiming he incites protests and vandalism while portraying himself as a defender of democracy. He alleged that during Djilas’ tenure as mayor of Belgrade, the city’s finances were mismanaged, public services suffered, and resources were diverted for personal gain.

The minister linked Djilas to recent incidents in which masked groups attacked Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) offices in Novi Sad, suggesting this was indicative of how the country would look under Djilas’ leadership — “broken, impoverished, and without political influence.”

Mali concluded by stating that Serbia had already recovered once from such governance and would not allow a return to instability.
