US President Joe Biden stated on Tuesday, Kamala Harris would “cut her own path” if elected, as the Democratic nominee seeks to assure voters she represents change in the White House.
Last week, Vice President Harris faced criticism from her Republican opponent Donald Trump after she stated in an interview that “not a thing comes to mind” when asked what she would have done differently from Biden.
Biden, speaking at a Democratic party dinner in Philadelphia, highlighted, “Every president has to cut their own path. I was loyal to Barack Obama, but as president, I carved out my own path.”
He continued, “That’s exactly what Kamala is going to do. She has been loyal so far but she will cut her own path.”

Biden added, “Kamala’s take on our problems will be fresh and new. Donald Trump’s take is old, failed, and quite frankly, thoroughly dishonest.”
A New York Times/Siena poll released a week ago indicated that voters were slightly more likely to view her as a break from the status quo compared to Trump.
However, Trump and his Republican allies quickly seized on Harris’s remarks from a daytime TV show interview last week.
Harris had commented, “There is not a thing that comes to mind… and I’ve been part of most of the decisions that have had an impact,” when questioned on how she would have diverged from Biden’s actions.
Meanwhile, the outgoing president attacked Trump in his address to local Democrats in Philadelphia.
Biden ridiculed Trump for a town hall that devolved into an odd musical session on Monday, stating, “He stood on the stage for 30 minutes and danced. I’m serious. What’s wrong with this guy?”
Biden also vehemently criticized Trump for “demonizing” migrants.
“Trump no longer conceals his racism; now it’s completely overt. His views on race echo the 1930s. Trump’s economic ideas hark back to the 1920s.
His views on women are from the 1950s,” Biden declared.
