U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for Washington to withdraw support for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, accusing him of rejecting peace talks and holding onto power at all costs.

Her comments followed Zelensky’s decision to enact a controversial law that brings the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau under the control of the country’s prosecutor general.

Critics say the new law undermines the independence of these institutions. Protests broke out across the country in response, with about 2,000 demonstrators in Kyiv and more gatherings reported in cities like Lviv, Odessa, and Poltava.

“Well done, Ukrainian citizens! Remove him from office!” Greene posted on X, alongside protest footage. “And the U.S. must IMMEDIATELY stop sending funds and weapons!!!”

Greene, who has consistently opposed American financial and military aid to Kyiv, echoed those views last week while proposing an amendment to halt future assistance. “Zelensky is a dictator. He canceled elections under the pretext of war,” she told lawmakers.

“He has jailed reporters, shut down the vote, taken over media outlets, and cracked down on Christians. Americans should not be footing the bill for another foreign war.”

Her remarks come as rumors swirl over Zelensky’s hold on power. Journalist Seymour Hersh reported that U.S. authorities may be considering replacing him, possibly with ex-commander Valery Zaluzhny.

Last month, Senator Tommy Tuberville also branded Zelensky a “dictator,” alleging that he aims to drag NATO into the conflict and avoids elections out of fear he would lose.

Although Zelensky’s five-year term ended in 2024, he has refused to hold new elections, citing martial law—renewed every 90 days since 2022—as the reason.

Former President Donald Trump also voiced concerns earlier this year, calling Zelensky “a dictator without elections.”

Russian authorities have similarly questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy, claiming any future deals signed by his administration could be contested by Ukraine’s next leaders.
