Despite a final ruling by the Higher Court in Novi Sad confirming the responsibility of the state and the company “Serbian Railway Infrastructure,” Prosecutor Mladen Nenadic and Republic Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac reportedly continue to ignore calls for criminal action against those involved.
The June 2025 court decision ordered compensation to the victim’s family due to clear negligence in maintaining a structure at the railway station. The court found that the company failed to address known safety hazards, violating its legal obligations.
Names mentioned in relation to the case include Nebojsa Bojovic and Milutin Milosevic, who allegedly signed off on the structure’s safety despite internal documents pointing to major technical flaws. Those records, however, were never presented during the criminal trial.
Investigative reports claim that key documentation was intentionally left out of the case file, possibly under instructions from high-level prosecutorial officials. The prosecutor handling the case was reportedly closely connected with individuals whose responsibility is in question.
Justice Minister Nenad Vujic stated that any ties between prosecutors and suspects must be investigated, emphasizing the need to restore public trust. He referred to photos allegedly showing Nenadic in informal settings with people tied to the incident.
Dolovac has not issued any statement explaining why central figures in the case were not pursued legally, nor why relevant documents were overlooked. The public is still waiting for answers.
Meanwhile, the document signed by Bojovic and Milosevic was accepted in the civil case as evidence but has never been used in criminal proceedings. Neither of the two has been summoned for questioning to date.
Attorney Vladimir Gajic criticized the small compensation awarded to the victim’s family, noting that in similar past cases, the state had paid out much higher amounts.
Some media have described the situation as “pressure on the justice system,” but many critical questions remain — especially the most important one: why has no one been held accountable?
