According to media reports, tensions flared in the Serbian town of Kosjeric when members of the opposition allegedly confronted municipal president Zarko Djokic early on election day.
Djokic was reportedly driving toward Motel “Izvor” when he was blocked by opposition activist Vladan Todorovic, a figure previously linked to several public incidents.
“Around 6 a.m., I went out to check if things were calm in the town,” Djokic told reporters. “As I drove along Karadjordjeva Street, a group jumped in front of my car at a pedestrian crossing. It was clearly intentional — they wanted to make it seem like I tried to run them over. They insulted me, my family, and made threats.”
Reports claim Todorovic not only obstructed the vehicle but approached and issued direct verbal threats.
Police were called to the scene and quickly intervened. Thanks to their timely response, the situation did not escalate into physical confrontation.
Officials condemned the act as an attempt to provoke and intimidate, while government-aligned outlets accused the opposition of using aggressive tactics to gain political leverage. The state continues to call for restraint and the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
