Maja Gojkovic, President of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina, commented on recent violent opposition protests during an appearance on Informer TV’s “Info Jutro.”

“They only want to gain power through violence. It’s obvious, and citizens clearly recognize this. They always target art or cultural monuments. On October 5th, they looted, burned, and destroyed cultural property, not to mention setting the Parliament on fire,” Gojkovic stated.

Gojkovic highlighted that Novi Sad’s City Hall is a cultural monument and criticized former provincial leaders for their actions. “Even occupying armies didn’t do what, for example, the former Prime Minister of Vojvodina did,” she remarked.

Her words were underscored by recent events in Novi Sad, where opposition groups allegedly rampaged through the streets, damaging and setting fire to City Hall. Some individuals reportedly urinated on this historic building, and opposition activist Miša Baculov was said to have emptied tanks of waste, creating serious environmental and health hazards for the people of Novi Sad. These actions, Gojkovic claimed, reveal that the opposition is driven solely by a desire for power rather than concern for the victims of the recent Novi Sad tragedy.
