President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Ghana after a helicopter crash killed high-ranking officials, including two ministers.

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of senior officials and ministers of the Republic of Ghana. On behalf of the people of Serbia and personally, I offer my sincerest condolences to the families of those lost and to our friends in Ghana. In these difficult moments, Serbia stands by your side,” Vucic stated on X.

The Ghanaian armed forces reported that the helicopter departed from Accra early in the morning, bound for the city of Obuasi in the Ashanti region, before vanishing from radar. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

Among the passengers were Ghana’s National Security Adviser and the deputy head of the ruling National Democratic Congress. Authorities in Ghana have labeled the crash a “national tragedy.”
