On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala and on this occasion stated that the courage of our ancestors in fighting for justice against much stronger enemies will never be forgotten.
“Eighty years have passed since the heroic liberation of Belgrade in World War II. For centuries, an unwavering love of freedom has given our people the strength to win wars,” Vucic posted on his official Instagram account.
“We will never forget the courage of our ancestors in their fight for justice against much stronger enemies. Eternal glory and gratitude to all the brave women and men who laid down their lives for the freedom of our people,” Vucic stated in the post.
After laying the wreath, he will attend the opening of the exhibition “Military Diplomacy on the Path to Freedom,” at 12:00 PM, in the building of the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic, as announced by the Media Cooperation Service of the President of the Republic.
Belgrade was liberated in World War II 80 years ago, on October 20, 1944, after three years and seven months of German occupation.
