President Aleksandar Vucic met today in Belgrade with Dr. Efraim Zuroff, Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the last living Nazi hunter.
“It was an honor to meet with Dr. Efraim Zuroff, a tireless advocate for truth and justice who never gave up—even when staying silent would have been easier,” President Vucic stated. “His work is not only preserved in archives and court records—it lives on through the names he returned to history and the Holocaust victims he made visible once again.”
President Vucic emphasized Serbia’s pride in its strong cooperation and friendship with Dr. Zuroff, and in their shared dedication to uncovering the crimes of World War II.
“We are especially grateful for all he has done to bring to light the suffering of the Serbian people in Jasenovac. While others turned away, he spoke out—with both knowledge and heart. Together, we discussed next steps in preserving the memory of victims of the Nazi regime. Serbia remains firmly committed to the fight against antisemitism. It is our duty to remember—not only for the past, but for the future,” Vucic concluded.
