Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska, addressed the issue of children being used for political purposes in a statement on his Twitter account. He specifically referred to the recent case involving the son of Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, as well as previous incidents involving the children of President Aleksandar Vučić.
“We are witnessing yet another example of children being dragged into political conflicts. This time, it involves the son of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, and previously, the children of President Aleksandar Vucic, who have been subjected to undue pressure and inappropriate public mentions. As both a father and a leader, I must strongly condemn this unacceptable behavior. No child should ever be used in political disputes or games, no matter where these actions originate,” Dodik said.
He stressed that children must be shielded from all forms of politicization, manipulation, and pressure. “Using children as tools to achieve political goals is morally indefensible. Such behavior crosses every ethical boundary and has no place in a civilized society,” he emphasized.
What makes these incidents even more troubling, he added, is that they often occur within educational institutions, spaces meant to nurture learning, values, and personal growth. Dodik called on authorities to act swiftly to protect children’s rights and dignity while ensuring such disgraceful actions are not repeated.
“Our society must rally together to uphold core values that protect families, children, and their basic freedoms. It’s deeply shameful to see the most vulnerable members of society being exploited for political agendas. Republika Srpska stands in solidarity with anyone affected by these attacks,” he declared.
Concluding his statement, Dodik urged collective responsibility and compassion: “Children are not political pawns. They represent our future, and it is our duty to safeguard them from the erosion of societal values and norms.”
