The Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with Michelle Cameron, the Ambassador of Canada to Serbia. Brnabic emphasized that Serbia is eager and able to build stronger ties with Canada. She stressed the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments and Serbia’s interest in furthering the relationship between their institutions, as stated in a release from the National Assembly.
Brnabic reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to its European Union path and to maintaining peace, stability, and progress in the Western Balkans. She pointed out that a stable and prosperous region is key to the success of all nations, including Serbia. She also underscored Serbia’s determination to address open issues through dialogue, acknowledging that the challenges at hand are complex and require an open approach and a readiness to compromise for the benefit of all involved.
During the meeting, Brnabic highlighted the 83-year diplomatic relationship between Serbia and Canada, noting that the two countries stood as allies during both World Wars. Both leaders agreed on their shared commitment to preserving stability, peace, and security, both in their regions and in the face of current global challenges.
Ambassador Cameron pointed out that the recent visits of high-level international officials to Serbia demonstrate the country’s strategic geopolitical positioning. Brnabic confirmed this, emphasizing that these visits reflect the dedication of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to strengthening international relations, according to Tanjug.
