Serbia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic, announced on Friday that an arrest warrant has been issued for Dilot Brahimi, a member of the Kosovo Police, in connection with the alleged physical assault of a Serbian high school student in North Mitrovica.
According to Dacic, Brahimi—an officer operating under the provisional institutions in Priština—assaulted the student during year-end school celebrations held in the city on Friday.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued an arrest warrant for Dilot Brahimi, who physically assaulted and injured a Serbian student in North Mitrovica,” Dacic stated. He emphasized that the warrant is open-ended and will remain in effect indefinitely. “There will be no statute of limitations,” the Ministry confirmed.
The incident reportedly took place in the city center, where several Kosovo police officers confronted a Serbian graduate. Witnesses say one officer grabbed the student by the neck and began harassing him before being stopped by nearby citizens and teachers.
The episode has fueled outrage among the Serbian population and heightened already tense ethnic divisions in the region.
