Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has delivered a strong message to citizens while in the United States, declaring his political resilience despite what he described as massive efforts to remove him from power. In a detailed Instagram post, the leader positioned himself as an experienced statesman focused solely on national interests.
“As a political veteran, I understand Serbia’s interests better than most,” Vucic stated. “My decisions aren’t driven by personal ambition or fear of losing power.” The president made bold claims about opposition to his rule, saying, “Billions were invested to overthrow me, and you failed. Just as I promised twelve years ago, I will leave politics when I choose – not because someone forces me out, especially not foreign powers. That would be my greatest shame.”
Vucic portrayed his political journey as a struggle against powerful forces, acknowledging moments when he “seemed alone” but asserting he always had public support. “The people stood with me – they are my strength,” he wrote, thanking supporters for backing his leadership and policy decisions through challenging times.
The statement comes during ongoing political tensions in Serbia, with critics increasingly vocal about Vucic’s dominant role since 2012. The message reinforces the president’s frequent theme of defending national sovereignty against external pressure, a position that has consistently appealed to his base.
