Today, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed Serbia’s commitment to speeding up its integration into Europe by fulfilling all necessary reforms.

“I said to Ursula (European Commission President von der Leyen), I am probably also to blame.

Perhaps I personally wasn’t as dedicated because of other things, because it is not easy to be in our shoes, because of Kosovo and Metohija and everything else, but we will do our best to speed up our European path,” Vucic said after a meeting with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

Vucic stated that the EU must also make strategic choices about each country’s membership eligibility. “Being part of the EU is as beneficial and important for us as it is for them to have this part of Europe within the EU,” he added.

“I hope that we will open Cluster 3 by the end of the year, that would be a significant signal that Serbia is progressing on its path to EU integration,” Vucic stated today, after the meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“Maintaining peace is crucial in the meantime, although, as you might know, I’m not overly optimistic about the global situation,” Vucic stated during a joint press conference.

He also noted that von der Leyen has urged Serbia to align more closely with the EU’s foreign policy declarations and other policies.

“Although she might overlook mentioning this, I want to be clear with everyone in Serbia: we understand the demands and expectations, and I have made sure to explain Serbia’s positions to President von der Leyen,” Vucic concluded.
