A group of students advocating for the resumption of regular classes addressed the public from Pioneers Park, announcing they will go on a hunger strike if academic activities are not normalized.

Student representative Miloš Pavlović stated that after speaking with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić — who urged them not to begin the strike — and following discussions with fellow students and their families, the group decided to give the government a deadline: if the situation is not resolved by June 28, they will begin a hunger strike.

Pavlović also strongly condemned Monday’s reported assault on a law professor, calling it unacceptable and damaging to the entire academic community.

“While such incidents occur, students like us who want to study are being kept outside our universities, while those responsible for violence are allowed in. It’s an absurd situation,” he said.

He emphasized that the group’s decision came after pleas not only from political leaders but especially from their parents.

“We’re staying in Pioneers Park and giving the state until Vidovdan, June 28, to resolve the situation,” he said at a press conference.

“If nothing changes, we will go on a hunger strike. This is not a political performance — it’s the final step in our fight against injustice,” Pavlović added.
