President Donald Trump has endorsed a criminal inquiry into former President Barack Obama, following allegations that his administration fabricated the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.
On Sunday, Trump shared a video on his Truth Social platform, featuring real clips of Obama and other Democrats stating “No one is above the law,” followed by AI-generated footage showing Obama being handcuffed by FBI agents in the Oval Office while Trump watches with amusement. The video ends with an animation of Obama behind bars, and Trump captioned another image — fake mugshots of Obama and his former officials — “The Shady Bunch.”
The post comes after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released a trove of over 100 declassified documents last week. Gabbard described the materials as conclusive proof that senior Obama-era officials — including ex-CIA chief John Brennan and former DNI James Clapper — distorted intelligence to create a false narrative of Russian election interference aimed at discrediting Trump’s 2016 victory.
According to Gabbard’s findings, intelligence assessments in 2016 concluded that Moscow lacked both the means and the motivation to sway the US election, but these conclusions were later buried. She claimed that Obama intervened directly, commissioning a separate assessment that falsely blamed Russia and cited discredited sources such as the Steele Dossier.
“This wasn’t intelligence work — it was story crafting,” Gabbard said. She accused Obama’s team of leaking false information to the media and using classified intelligence for political purposes. “Everyone involved in this operation must face a full criminal investigation and prosecution,” she added.
Trump praised Gabbard and her team, calling them “outstanding in exposing the truth about Obama and his inner circle,” and backed her demand for legal action.
The Kremlin has long dismissed allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 election, characterizing the Russiagate controversy as a politically motivated ploy to damage ties with Moscow and justify sanctions.
