Authorities from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Criminal Police Directorate, at the behest of the Special Department for Combating Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Niš, have arrested M. N. (22) and L. Đ. (28), employees of the Chinese company Serbia Zijin Mining in Bor, on suspicion of accepting bribes in conducting business activities.
Additionally, M. J. (36), responsible person at the ASPIT Bor Company, was arrested under suspicion of committing the criminal offense of bribery in conducting business activities.
Following the arrest of the two employees for accepting bribes, Serbia Zijin Mining has expressed full support and collaboration with legal authorities to clarify all related details and has initiated an internal investigation.
The company stressed its unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards and a zero-tolerance approach towards bribery, corruption, and illegal activities since its inception.
“Corruption is a major risk not just for us but for everyone, so we strongly condemn any corrupt behavior. We’re already looking into the details of these accusations internally and plan to beef up our security and oversight,” the company stated.
Serbia Zijin Mining will continue its active cooperation with the authorities and enhance internal checks to prevent future incidents.
