Two students from the “Svetozar Marković” High School in Jagodina have been expelled, and the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced the initiation of criminal proceedings after they shared a video of an intimate relationship with a classmate on social media.
The recording was made during a study trip to Budapest organized by the school.
According to reports, the teachers’ council at the Jagodina high school decided to expel the minors following a conducted disciplinary procedure.
“During the study trip to Budapest, there were no complaints from students or parents; however, upon returning, the parents of one student reported an incident of violence on the platform ‘Čuvam te’ (I Protect You), and subsequently informed the principal,” stated a source familiar with the case.
A disciplinary procedure was initiated in accordance with the Protocol for Responding to Violence, and the police department was notified.
The protection team determined that the incident constituted a level-three violence, and plans were established for the protection of the victim and the class, as well as intensified efforts with the students involved in the violence.
It was assessed that it was unnecessary to remove the bullying students from educational activities.
However, due to violations of Articles 111 and 112 of the Law on the Fundamentals of the Education System, the measure of expulsion from school was imposed, and the decisions were delivered to the parents on October 30, with an appeal period of eight days.
The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Jagodina received a report from the Jagodina Police Department on October 25, concerning the notification from the principal of the “Svetozar Marković” High School that the students of the school possessed a recording containing explicit content featuring a minor student of the school.
Following the establishment of the case file, a request will be submitted to the Higher Court in Jagodina to initiate preliminary proceedings against the two minor students for the alleged commission of crimes related to the display, acquisition, and possession of pornographic material and the exploitation of a minor for pornography, as outlined in Article 185, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code.
