Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated today that Ukraine cannot violate its Constitution regarding territorial matters, emphasizing that “Ukrainians will not give their land to occupiers.”

Commenting on the recent announcement by US President Donald Trump about a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for August 15, Zelensky said Ukraine is open to realistic solutions that could bring peace, Reuters reports.

However, he noted that any resolution made without Kyiv’s involvement would be a peace-ending solution that, as he stressed, would bring no benefit.

He described such outcomes as “dead solutions that will never work, while everyone needs a true, living peace that people will respect.”

“Ukrainians defend what is theirs. Even those who support Russia know it commits evil. Of course, we will not give Russia any rewards for what it has done. The Ukrainian people deserve peace. But all partners must understand what a dignified peace means,” Zelensky posted on Facebook.

He emphasized that this war must end, and Russia must bring it to an end.

According to Zelensky, as cited by Ukrinform, Russia initiated the war and is dragging it out, ignoring any deadlines, which he called the real problem.

“The answer to Ukraine’s territorial issue is already in the Constitution of Ukraine. No one will and cannot depart from this. Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier,” the head of state said.

He added that he is ready, together with Trump and other partners, to work toward a true and, most importantly, lasting peace — a peace that will not collapse due to Moscow’s ambitions.
