President Aleksandar Vucic sent a heartfelt message in honor of November 16, marking Infantry Day, the Day of the Army, and the 110th anniversary of the Serbian Ground Forces.
“To all members of the Ground Forces and Infantry, I extend my warmest congratulations on this special day and remarkable milestone,” Vucic stated in an official announcement.
He reflected on the year’s historical importance, noting anniversaries of key moments in Serbia’s national history, including the First Serbian Uprising, World War I, the liberation of Belgrade in World War II, and the battles of Cer and Kolubara. He emphasized the enduring significance of these events for Serbia’s cultural memory and military tradition.
“For 110 years, you have upheld the legacy of Kolubara’s heroes as the backbone of the Serbian Army. Your values—patriotism, honor, integrity, and responsibility—are deeply rooted in our history and serve as an inspiration for all,” Vucic said.
The president praised the contributions of the Ground Forces and Infantry, highlighting their commitment to advancing the army’s operational capabilities and performing their duties with professionalism. He acknowledged their role in safeguarding Serbia’s borders and maintaining security along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija.
Vucic also commended recent modernization efforts. “With advanced weapons and equipment, you have achieved impressive results in training and readiness. Together with the entire defense system, you stand as a pillar of safety for Serbia and its citizens,” he said.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to building a strong military, Vucic stated, “We will continue investing in the Army. A strong military ensures a stable country and protects Serbia’s sovereignty and independence.”
He concluded by congratulating the Ground Forces on their holiday and historic milestone. “I am confident that you will keep giving your best, achieving excellence in your duties. You have the full support of the Republic of Serbia,” Vucic assured.
