Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic responded to the recent protests and blockades in front of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) building, strongly condemning what he described as acts of aggression toward the network’s journalists and editors.

“I strongly condemn the brutal actions protesters are taking against RTS staff. Serbia will have the strength to defend its constitutional order,” Vucic posted on Instagram.

In a video message, he noted that Friday marked Good Friday—a day of sorrow and hope—yet, according to him, some individuals chose to use it as a moment to spread violence and division.

“Even on the most important Christian holiday, there are those trying to tear down the state. People are being harassed just for thinking differently. Their right to work, to move freely, even to eat, is being denied. They’re not allowed to broadcast their content. Regardless of my personal opinion about that content, the threats being sent to RTS employees are horrifying. These are mothers, grandmothers, and children—treated as guilty simply for not agreeing with the aggressors,” he said.

Vucic emphasized that throughout his presidency, he has acted according to the Constitution and the law.

“They’ve lied about police intervention and about the use of sound cannons. They’ve lied about everything—and they’ll continue to lie. But what must not be allowed is for this campaign of intimidation and harassment to continue unchecked,” he warned.

He called on state authorities to take lawful steps to restore order.

“I ask all responsible institutions to act in line with the Constitution to restore legal order, public peace, and stability. Let it be clear that Serbia functions as a state. And please, do it with as little force as possible—only when absolutely necessary,” he said.

Vucic ended his message with Easter wishes:

“To all citizens of Orthodox and Catholic faith, to all Christians—happy holiday! I wish for the resurrection of a decent and normal Serbia. A Serbia we love. I believe we can not only preserve our country but lift it up to become one of Europe’s most successful nations again. Happy Easter!” Vucic concluded.
