After a session of the National Security Council, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic addressed the nation, firmly stating that Serbia does not recognize the recent ruling issued by the Bosnian judiciary.

“We carefully analyzed the verdict against Milorad Dodik, and it’s clear the decision was politically staged. The pressure leading up to it was immense, including threats from parties in Sarajevo to hold mass protests unless Dodik was convicted,” Vucic said.

He strongly criticized the one-year prison sentence and political ban handed to Dodik for allegedly defying Christian Schmidt, calling the judgment both immoral and a violation of core democratic principles.

“This verdict not only undermines freedom of expression but also breaches the sovereignty and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Dayton Agreement. Serbia cannot and will not recognize such a decision,” Vucic declared, reading the official statement.

He went on to warn that the broader regional situation is becoming increasingly fragile, with Serbs facing growing threats.

“These measures pose a serious risk to Bosnia’s stability and disrupt the democratic balance within its institutions.”

When asked what Serbia’s response would be if Sarajevo issued an arrest warrant for Dodik while he is in Serbian territory, Vucic was firm.

“That will not happen. All institutions are expected to respect the decision made today. Dodik was elected legally and with full legitimacy, and he will always be welcome in Serbia,” the president concluded.
