President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that the traffic blockades organized in recent months have caused massive economic harm to the country, with estimated losses reaching several hundred million euros.

When asked whether there was even a rough assessment of the financial impact, Vucic replied, “The damage is huge—easily in the hundreds of millions, maybe even approaching a billion. There’s direct damage, like blocked routes and lost trade, and then there’s indirect damage that’s harder to measure, but still very real.”

He pointed to diverted travel routes as one example of the fallout: “Just think about how many cars are now choosing to go through Romania and Bulgaria to get to Turkey instead of passing through Serbia, simply because they don’t know if some lunatic will block the highway again.”

He added that the government intends to analyze the full scope of the impact, calling it “a serious blow” to both infrastructure and international confidence in the country’s stability.
