Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister, Milun Zogovic, once again stated that his view on Kosovo has not changed since his entry into the government, referring to it as the “Southern province of Serbia.”
In an interview with Aplus, Zogovic argued that he doesn’t avoid Montenegro’s international obligations but reaffirmed that he believes Kosovo is a part of Serbia.
He added that these positions have been stated in the Parliament of Montenegro and were expressed before he took up the government position.
“This belief was expressed before I entered the government, and I still believe Kosovo is part of Serbia,” Zogovic said.
Zogović also reacted to the latest comments made by the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, at a conference in Tivat, stating “There were no arguments that could disprove the position about the status of Kosovo.”
He criticized the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) for its persistence in using anti-Serb propaganda in the political campaign, noting it is ineffective.
Zogović recommended the creation of stable, growth-focused, long-lasting partnerships between Serbia and Montenegro based on respect for each other’s sovereignty.
“I don’t think that we need to bring back some old and unnecessary debates. Instead, we should seek to improve our relationship and keep it friendly without causing further tension relating to the past,” Zogović said.
