President of the Democratic Party (DS) Zoran Lutovac stated today that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and his administration are primarily concerned about “the public’s opposition to lithium exploitation, which has moved from the parliamentary seats to the streets.”
“There is a possibility that Vučić’s current administration might face consequences for all its past failures and reckless policies, suggesting that lithium could become what religious processions were in Montenegro.”
“Vučić’s administration could face consequences for all its past failures and reckless policies; lithium here could become what religious processions were in Montenegro,
Lutovac declared during his address to party members gathered at the DS Main Committee meeting.
Since “few members were missing for the quorum because they were traveling,” Lutovac delivered his speech before the official start of the meeting to save time.
He stated that civil disobedience is an obligation when the government violates the public interest and the law, highlighting that the protests against lithium exploitation are defending the constitutional order.
In a statement to reporters after addressing DS members, he reminded them that he had called on members and local party leaders to join and contribute to the protests announced by environmental activists for Wednesday in Loznica.
